  • Anzac Day crochet and baking

A few days ago was Anzac Day (25th) and I thought it would be nice to try to make some things in remembrance.

I made a little crochet poppy and baked some Anzac biscuits. Both didn’t turn out how I’d hoped though!

The crochet poppy ended up looking more like a pinwheel shape. I didn’t follow a pattern but ended up making my own. It was 5 mins to midnight when I posted to YouTube.

In light of what happened concerning the interruption of a Welcome To Country by a neo-nazi I thought it could be seen as inappropriate. So after posting the video I ended up amending the title and description and made a comment to clarify.

I’ve been really tired the last week with various things and was tired when posting. I wasn’t sure whether to leave it up or not but I wanted some sort of commemoration. And I wasn’t sure whether my amendments made it worse or not.

    Now the Anzac biscuits…

This is the first attempt lol.

I didn’t take a photo of the second attempt but they did turn out better. They were the same shape unfortunately but they weren’t as burnt. The dough had been in the fridge overnight but it still didn’t seem to help.

I used the recipe up on the Women’s Weekly website (ironically called the “The best Anzac biscuits recipe of all time” [they are not imo!])

The first batch was me following the recipe exactly.

The second batch was me having the oven temperature at 160 instead because it’s fan forced (something not mentioned in the WW recipe!) and using dough that had been refrigerated (another thing not mentioned in WW recipe). Plus instead I only had them in for about 10 mins instead of the listed 15 mins (12 for chewier biscuits apparently but even that would have been too long!).

All in all not a good recipe imo and it gets no recommendations for me. Other than it being good for making Anzac biscuit dough to eat as is (which I did do and it did taste good!).

It was frustrating not to be able to get the crochet poppy and Anzac biscuits right. It did feel a little bit disheartening but I tried to watch various Anzac services throughout the day and found moments for contemplation. I like tradition and practicing gratitude so it was important to me to make an effort to honour those that fought and fight to protect this land and country.

  • Website updates

I’ve been working on new additions to this website. I’ve created a dedicated page for the Intergalactica stuff. I’m working making the Art page more organised. I’ve added a 3D animations page where I’ll be embedding the videos for the 3d animations I’ve made.

I’m trying to organise the home page in a way that’s interesting but also somewhat easy to navigate.

I’ve also added an About Me page.

  • New website! 😊

So, I finally decided to make a new website for myself.

I think it’s probably better than just relying on social media alone. It’s easy to get shadowbanned, censored etc. when you’re on social media.

Censorship can be a good thing but not when you’re being censored for your political beliefs. Not that I want to be posting a lot of those on here anyway. I’m an artist and musician, not a journalist or activist.

Plus it’s good to have a website to use as a portfolio. People can much more easily see everything when it’s in one place.
